A Most Curious Mourning

Click an image to view

Most people are familiar with the scenes of Semana Santa in the south of Spain, with their colors and singing and general joyfulness, but in other areas, such as these pictures from Avila, they offer something different, straight out of a dour medieval custom descended directly from the inquisition.  Full of intrigue and mystery … and darkness.
From the series A most curious mourning.

Train Time

I´m still not a big train fan.   But at least you can watch something more interesting than a wing with an airline logo on it.

Athos, Porthos y Aramis

From One Moment to the Next

This is a series of diptics relating to events, in personal experience, of time spent on a recent weekend day.  You could say that they relate to what I did, whom I was with or saw, where I went, etc.  The images are taken in different moments and places, seamingly disconnected from each other, but as one experience in any given moment blends …continue

Canary Nights

I just could not resist.  For quite some time now I had been toying with the idea of picking up a point and shoot digital.  I missed having one of my small leicas on hand to snap away. So after many product reviews and blogs and comparisons I settled on the Ricoh GX 200. Quite happy with it for now.
Of course once I …continue

Stack of Cones

This photograph was recently taken un a rare sunny day near Bilbao, Spain.  They are definitely ready for summer there!  Ice Cream and all.  I suppose because it rains so much there one has to take advantage of a slightly warm sunny day in any way you can.  I love the old ice cream carts though.  Don’t see too many of those around, …continue

My assistant hard a work

Our business is really about waiting.   On our recent trip to Prague my assistant and I had to battle tourist hoards and horrible haze to get a location shot.  Of course while waiting a nice tall glass of beer is a very good companion. Or so my assistant says.

Diagonals

Diagonal lines.  Jagged lines.  Not hard to make a composition with these, and the colors speak for themselves, although what I like most is the texture. It’s pretty, it’s natural, it’s real.  This is the final entry of the absrtact nature series, next we’ll move on to other things.  I hope you have enjoyed it.  Thanks for viewing.

Hands and Feet

As a follow up to my last post, the feet might be a good addition to the series.

Blue Looking Down

This is the third entry of four abstract nature series.  Blue.  My obsession with reflected objects continues.  While fixating on a spot on a river bank I became interested in the world above me being reflected in what was below me. People passing by, the sky, the sun. It reminds me of images shot by astronauts looking down at islands adrift …continue
